National Novel Writing Month begins November 1st. The goal is write a 50,000 word novel in a month. I will be participating this year. Check out NaNoWriMo.org for details. I'll leave the endorsement to the right on the blog until the end of November, and also blog the progress of my novel (which I've yet to even remotely think about at this point) throughout November. I encourage everyone who sees this to try and participate in this event. I think it will prove--if nothing else--an incredible, cathartic outlet for mass-creativity and insight. I'm curious to see if I can actually fulfill the daunting task and hope that the burden of deadline stresses me out enough to propel me into an utter anxiety of fear and dismay, which just might bring out the best in me. It worked with those darn college essays, anyway.
I urge all of you to comment with your conceptual ideas regarding writing in general, specific ideas garnered towards this endeavor, and if any of you sign up, please post a link to your profile (here's mine) here.
Following are a few online resources for writer's, from how to write, what to write about, other stuff people write and how to get published:- Site specific articles:

Hmmmm....that sounds awesome, I think I'll join you. I don't think I'll finish because I can't quite manage that quality over quantity motif, but I'll give it a shot.
dvd
Dvd,
You mean quantity over quality?
And yes, you can manage it. The great thing about this is it's all about the deadline. It's really just an exercise in writing. I think it's a brilliant idea and I know it will help me. Of course, you (you rat bastard) don't have the same problems with being able to sit down and write like I do. But I'm happy to have you on board if you decide to join. Link us to your profile and/or a website with your progress. Or you can even publish it here if you feel so inclined.
Yeah, that's what I meant.
Anyway, I definitely see it as an exercise too...but I'm so anal, I know I'll be fighting myself all along to cease from articulating every setence just so. And I actually have a lot of trouble sitting down and getting writing done. The internet is the bane of my existence.
But I'm signed up, under the predictable handle 'Ghostboy,' and I'll begin writing Nov.1 right along with you. I'm sure I'll be updating my blog with my progress, too...hmmm, maybe I could get experimental and include my blog entries in the actual text of the novel? Actually, I'll bet a lot of people will do that. It's easy to fill up space when you've broken the fourth wall, so to speak.
I'm sort of disappointed that Blogger isn't participating again this year. Will you be?
Well, I never really got around to posting anything last year, despite the fact that I did write a bit. I ended up having to move to Florida where I was working 60-70 hours a week, helping out with the hurricanes. I'm always busy with work. *sigh* Look at my frickin' blog! I haven't updated it in months... And yet you people still find it...
