I have nothing to say about this.

Crash! Bang! Zoom!

Yes, that sad image to the right of this text is my former '98 F150. Yesterday, I was an active participant in a rather unnecessary vehicular accident. Apparently, the lady who hit me, deemed it wholly imprudent to actually look to see where she's going before she gets going there. She was driving a Chrysler Sebring convertible, so I can only assume that she was also speeding, given the amount of damage done to my truck.

I suppose the only real excuse this lady has is the fact that there are no signs in the middle of this parking lot where a main thoroughfare and a an auxiliary thoroughfare meet. I'd say "intersection," but that would imply a need for some sort of signage, which is utterly ridiculous in a goddamn parking lot. Evidently, according to a fine young officer, of the female persuasion, of the Palm Beach County's (oh yeah, I'm in South Florida now) Sheriff's Department, this sort of incident happens fairly regularly. Commonsensically speaking, it would appear as though the common folk of Palm Beach County have a slim-to-none chance of being sensical. Okay, I'm projecting. Give me some leeway damnit, I've been traumatized!

Now, given the site of the accident was on private property, the officer could not assess blame (though she continually inferred blame to Miss Sebring) and so I'm dealing directly with her insurance company--still waiting for the adjuster to contact me. I made the mistake of calling my insurance company, filing a claim and then having my adjuster tell me, "Uhh...Call her insurance company. We can't do anything for you since it was clearly her fault." Now I'll have a "not at fault" claim on my record which "probably won't affect your rates." Great.

Here's a detailed rendering of the accident for your convenience:

Aside from the inaccuracy of the actual site of impact (I'm sure that occurred outside the frame of the snapshot), this clearly shows the force of impact, and the exact result of said impact. In other words: it's fairly clear Miss Sebring is at fault. Unfortunately, it's 7PM the next day and no call from her adjuster as of yet (I've left two messages).

And on top of all that, I lost my glasses in the wreck, so I can't see. I think they must have flown out the window or something. That, and it's Christmas weekend and I'll be completely alone and stranded without my truck. If the insurance company gets back to me tomorrow, I'll beg for a rental.

Happy frickin' palm beach holidays from Sunny fuckin' Florida.
